Chris Montgomery

Community Liaison – July 2023

Christopher Montgomery is the Assistant Director of Innovative Technologies & STEM Outreach at Northshore Technical Community College, based in Lacombe, La. Before joining NTCC in March 2020, Montgomery served the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Federal Grain Inspection Agency under (AMS) Agricultural Marketing Service as an agricultural commodity grader and union safety representative from 2011-2020.

Montgomery earned a B. S. degree in agricultural economics from Alcorn State in 2006, and his master’s degree in occupational health and safety, with a concentration in environmental science, from Columbia Southern University in 2019.

Throughout the years, Montgomery has earned several OSHA certifications, as well as national STEM-related certifications. He holds certificates from the NC3 (National Coalition on Certification Center) and NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) in robotics, electricity AC/DC, PLCs and mechatronics.

In his role with Northshore, Montgomery serves as project manager of the DXC Higher Education grant and Mining Health and Safety Instructor (MSHA) part-time. As such, he partners with surrounding learning institutions and businesses to create curriculum and job training programs. As of June 2023, Montgomery joined Northshore Robotics serving as their Community Liaison helping with outreach, recruiting efforts, and expansion. He travels through South Louisiana, visiting community and events showcasing STEM careers.

Montgomery and his wife reside in Covington, La., with their two children.
